Education and its importance

Education is the process of facilitating or  the acquisition of the knowledge, values, skills benefits and habits. It is the method that includes teaching, training, research etc. Education is one of the key components that bring growth and progress into society. The more people in society education, the more people in society education, the more they contribute beneficial contribution to their environment. Education is the root growth for any country. If the person in a country is well educated, the overall growth of that country is quite much betterthan another country.

Lokmanya Tilak said "Freedom is our bright-right". It is quite true . But truer is a child when he says, "Education is our birth-right". The society knows it too. Unfortunately, we do not respect our knowledge and so have not yet made genuine effective efforts to educated our children. The education of the children, specially in India, cannot be left to the parents. How can an uneducated parent know the importance of education? Moreover, poverty of the under-privileged stands in the way. The proof need bread first. Therefore, as soon as child is able to move his feet and hands, he is employed to earn some money. Such children lose not only for their education but their childhood and happiness. Persuasion will not work in many cases. There has to be a law for compulsory education for all children.

One of the greatest gifts that the government of the country has given to the society is the Right to education for every child in India. But unfortunately, the people for the benefit of whom this law has been enacted have not yet made enough use of it. most of people do not know about the law and even those who do, find it difficult to make use of it. As a result, the children of school going age are still found doing drudgery in homes of the affluent or in shops, restaurants and factories.  We know that education is the only pillars that uproot the development of any country. Educated person is more civilized, aware about their work as well as understand their problems and eger to solve it.Education not only gives money for survival but also enhance our potential. So it is our first priority that every citizen must be educated so that they became independent and live happily. But Nowadays even most of the people didn't aware about education.they only believe in working for their survival. That is not good sign for our country. In India it is seen that literacy rate is not good as compared to another country but somehow situation is quite good.  However we must aware the people about education. We must promote it so that we can increase the rate of Literacy.

How we can promote Literacy

It is really sad that even after almost 72 years of independence, we have not been able to remove illiteracy from the country. Out of every 20 people in the world three are Indian. According to the president's address on world's Literacy Day, education is the only key to root out all the maladies like poverty, health problems, over- population,  etc.

Illiteracy is a curse. The illiteracy do not know the govt's plans made for their uplift. Then they are likely to be cheated by the unscrupulous. They can be discriminated against. Also they may not understand what is beneficial for them and what is not. The plans for their progress are unknown to them. In short they can't move ahead with the changing times.

We can remove illiteracy by adopting 'Education for All'. Students can play an important role in this field. During their holidays, they may take classes of the illiterate. They can also spread awareness about the utility of being literate. The government should join hands with Non-Govt Organisations (NGOs) in their Voluntary services to promote literacy through various programmes. These can be of adult education, motivation  for learning in children and non-formal education.

Some NGOs are indeed doing good work in this regard but it is like a drop in the ocean. A great effort is required both on the part of the government as well as the society to send children to school. For the welfare of the nation, it is necessary that each of us does his/her best to educate the children.
