Importance of Girl Child Education

It is a common sense that man and woman depend on each other for their survival. Unfortunately, common sense have become a rare sense in our country. Otherwise, there is no reason why people  should look down upon the girl child. Girls become mothers who look after their children. Now an educated mother cannot keep her children from school. Therefore, it has been rightly said that when you educate a girl, you educate an entire family. May be, the Mughal and the British rule had something to do with it. The girl had to be protected. Then there is a belief that the family tree will continue only by a son. A boy is expected to earn money while a daughter needs a dowry in the marriage. Now people understand it better. Girls are also earning. They have brought laurels in every field of life. Whatever, they have been given a chance they have proved their worth. They have become greater teachers, soldiers and politicians. The education of the girls is therefore in the interest of the society. The educated girls become educated guardians of their families. So let’s think How can an uneducated woman do so?

Ultimately, it is not difficult to understand why we are still a backward country. The main reason is our uneducated women- folk. Some bad tradition like dowry will also disappear with the education of the girls. It is said that Educated a men, you educate only one person- an individual. Educated a female, you educate a family- an institution. An educated mother has a sobering, soothing and civilizing effect on her children. So the education of a woman is more important than the education of a man. No nation can think of its balance development if the women are illiterate. They cannot move about with confidence. They can be easily duped and exploited. No child can extract undue money from his educated mother by asking for fifty rupees to buy Indian ocean. An educated mother knows what is Indian ocean and it cannot be bought. The child cannot be fool her. Likewise she cannot be dodged by the children pretending to be studying while actually reading undesirable or irrelevant books. On the other hand they can check their undesired activities.

Woman are generally religious and morally strong. They would infuse innate qualities of their character polished with education of tolerance, patience, love, affection, dedication, and other niceties of her character. She can discuss with her children their problem and can arguably put them on the right track of life and check them from going astray. For most of the part of the day the children remain in their mother’s contact. They are naturally and physically prone to emulate her and get infected by her qualities. So an educated woman will be a source of good inspiration for her children. The government’s plan to create a clean India will succeed only with the help of these educated woman who know the value of cleanliness. When they become educated there will be no house without a clean toilet. An educated woman could be helpless and wanting in this respect because of her illiteracy and ignorance.

Gone are the days when women considered themselves a weaker. Today, they are neither weak nor inferior. Even in our films and T.V serials, they are no longer presented as the tragedy queens. They are the chief characters. This is what happens in real life. Women occupy very high positions in politics, industry and education. Their position is so remarkable improved that in near future, they might begin to be called the stronger than other. They are enjoying all rights of equality. Nay, they are more than equal because their complaints are heard sooner. Modern woman has a lot of self-respect and confidence. The nation is indeed proud of her women folk. But in somehow there is lack of education because of this the backward people cannot aware of it and they don’t prefer to educate a girl child. But this is not good sign of the Nation. So we must change our attitude and give the girl child her due-education and support.
