Realme 8 pro review
The new Realme 8 Pro has finally made its
India debut and packs a 108-megapixel camera. It is the cheapest smartphone
with 108-megapixel camera and is aimed at the general public. A strategy Realme
believes will work in their favor. The 8 Pro is more than a camera-focused
phone. It is an all-round phone with an AMOLED screen and a fast Snapdragon
720G processor. Is Realme 8 Pro worth your money? Let’s find out. The Realme 8
Pro doesn't have a unique design, but it has a nice shimmer effect on the back.
When the light hits it, the back glows in various shades of blue, making it
look beautiful. The device has a textured back that provides a better grip and
keeps fingerprints out, apart from some glossy phones. In case you are
wondering, yes, there is also the big “Dare to Leap” tagline that we saw on
the Realme X7 Pro.
The Realme 8 Pro has a vivid
display
The Realme 8 Pro has a very slim profile, although the rear camera module is slightly protruding. Realme bundles a case in the box. You can use this to avoid scratching the back. The build quality of the device is quite good. It has a back made of polycarbonate and a plastic frame. Just like the Realme 7 Pro, you get a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display, and there's nothing to complain about here. The panel delivers vivid colors and outdoor visibility is also good. However, the device does not support the high refresh rate. Plus Realme was one of the brands that offered high refresh rate displays on most of the devices. There's also no stereo speakers and no IP rating. You get a built-in fingerprint scanner which does a great job. The mid-range smartphone performed well in almost all areas. It can easily do everyday tasks, but I can't say the same for sports.
A
closer look at the rear camera setup of the Realme 8 Pro has been taken.
Gaming performance on this phone was not
very good. We tried playing Genshin Impact and the device was not able to load
graphics in a timely manner even on the lowest settings. We also experienced
lags and stutters for 25 minutes which was quite disappointing. It all started
when the battery of the device was at 20 %. The game worked fine when the
battery percentage exceeded 20 %. But you can definitely play some easy games
on Realme 8 Pro.
It took some time for Realme 8
Pro to load graphics.
The Realme 8 Pro supports the Always-On
Display (AOD) feature, but you cannot customize it. There is no way to schedule
an AOD if one wants to. The new Realme 2.0 user interface offers features like
System Cloner, which creates a duplicate system that allows you to keep your
data in a private place. Now you can also use the "Hide apps"
function. This option can be found in the Privacy settings. It should be noted
that there are several apps pre-installed on the device, including Facebook,
Flipkart, Amazon, Heffn, and Soloop. The good thing is that you can uninstall
them, but you won't be able to remove some of the company's unnecessary native
apps. Another problem is that we got a lot of notifications from apps like
Hey Fun and Realmes Browser and didn't even open those apps.
Realme 8 Pro comes with Android
11.
One of the main selling points of the
Realme 8 Pro is that it comes with a 65W charger which is the real savior. It
charges fast and you don't have to wait for hours for it to get fully charged.
The charger took about 35 minutes to fully charge the battery. After hours of
playing and using social media apps we got days of battery life on a single
charge.
REALME 8 PRO: Camera performance
The Realme 8 Pro was able to take decent shots in most of the scenarios. The 108MP mode delivered a well-constructed picture with lots of detail, and color accuracy was just right. In good lighting conditions, you'll get detailed and sharp enough macro shots with vivid colors. Don't expect a strong macro shot, though. Some photos taken with the Realme 8 Pro were a bit blurry and I had to use the HDR mode for a bit of vibrancy. AI mode sucks and only provides very saturated photos.
REALME 8 PRO: Should you buy
it?
The
price of Realme 8 Pro in India is Rs 17,999. The company has already sold the
Realme Narzo 30 Pro for Rs 16,999, which is a 5G phone but has an LCD display
with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. You will get the same performance in both the
devices. . The Realme 8 Pro is a feature-rich phone for the under Rs 20,000
price segment. It offers around Rs 18,000 for a vibrant AMOLED panel, good
cameras and 65,000 fast charging. Still, the Realme 8 Pro faces stiff
competition from the Redmi Note. 10 Pro Max Vs. If you pay Rs 2000 more, the
mid-range phone from Xiaomi comes with features like 120Hz panel and stereo
speakers.
